What is intact_®?
It is a product made from the colostrum of dairy cows.  It is a pure product in that it contains no additives.

What is colostrum?
Colostrum is the first milking (72 hours) produced by every mammal following the birth of their offspring.

What is in colostrum that makes it so different from normal milk?
Colostrum is a highly bioactive substance.  It is a rich source of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM), Growth Factors (IGF-1, IGF-2) and other antimicrobials including lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase.  These substances provide a natural defence to the newborn by promoting growth and providing general and specific protection in the form of antibodies against external pathogens whilst their immune system develops.

What is the challenge with Colostrum?
The challenge is to retain the natural bioactivities present in raw colostrum in the final product and deliver these "intact" to the human gut.  Of optimal importance is how you treat colostrum once it leaves the udder of the cow.

How is intact_® processed?
intact_® is not pasteurised.  Our studies show that subjecting colostrum to extreme heat damages the immunoglobulins (antibodies) and potentially the growth factors naturally occurring in raw colostrum.

Numico Research Australia has developed a patented process (protected in New Zealand and Australia) that utilises low heat treatment whilst maintaining pharmaceutical grade quality standards.  The final product produced is a concentrated product, which means that excess fats, salts and lactose are removed.  intact_® contains not more than 15% lactose compared to 50% lactose contained in normal skim milk powder.

What is it about intact_® that makes it so different from generic brands of colostrum?
To date Numico Research Australia are the only company world wide to have developed a clinically proven colostrum product showing significant improvements in performance and recovery in athletes, with no doping effect.

Many of our competitors use intact_® clinical trial data to market their colostrum products, none of which are produced by our patented intact_® process.  Generally these products are not 100% colostrum and/or are marketed at daily dosages that are not supported by clinical data or been subjected to doping studies, or have been produced at temperatures which damage the bioactivity of the raw colostrum.
